Healing Programs: Military and Veterans

Help support our heroes by donating to allow us to provide our Healing Programs to those that need our support.

Our Healing Heroes Programs with Wolves allows us to provide Veterans and Military persons with the ability to help heal.

Our Programs aim to do the following:

1 . Providing emotional support:

Interacting with canids like wolves and foxes can provide comfort and a sense of calm for veterans with PTSD.

2. Reducing anxiety and stress:

Spending time with wolves has been shown to lower levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, and reduce anxiety.

3. Improving social skills:

Interacting with canids like wolves and foxes can help veterans with PTSD improve their social skills and build relationships with others.

4. Encouraging physical activity:

Taking care of canids like wolves and foxes and participating in activities such as hiking and training can encourage veterans to engage in physical activity, which can be beneficial for their mental health.

5. Building self-esteem:

Accomplishing tasks and working with wolves can help veterans with PTSD build self-esteem and confidence.

6. Providing a sense of purpose:

Caring for canids like wolves and foxes can provide a sense of purpose and fulfillment for veterans with PTSD.

7. Offering a non-judgmental relationship:

Canids like wolves and foxes do not judge or hold grudges, and their unconditional love and acceptance can provide a safe and non-judgmental relationship for veterans with PTSD.

*It is important to note that while interacting with wolves can be beneficial for veterans with PTSD, it should not be considered a substitute for professional therapy and medical treatment.

Pledge Table
from $5.00

The JABECC Pledge table is a place where you can donate to the things that mean the most to you.

1) RESCUE FUND: The JABCECC is frequently called upon to provide a forever home to a canid in need, to locate a forever home, or transport a canid to their forever home. These rescues are 100% supported through the donations we receive from you. We would love to be able to support more rescues and provide a safe haven for those canids in need.

GOAL: $15,000

2) ENCLOSURES: The JABCECC cannot rescue more canids in need if we do not have the proper safe and secure enclosures for them. Currently, we have no additional enclosures built. We need to build at least two additional enclosures so we are ready for when we receive the call to save another fox, or give a forever home to another coyote that cannot be released into the wild. Enclosures that meet the USDA APHIS and CA Fish and Wildlife regulations are expensive. We need your help to save more animals.

GOAL: $10,000

3) EVACUATION VEHICLE: In the event of a fire or other natural disaster, the JABCECC needs a reliable transportation vehicle to ensure the canids in our care can be safely moved. Our current Van is old and we need to secure a new reliable transport vehicle.

GOAL: $25,000

4) HEALING PATH: Our Healing Path is a path we are in the process of designing. The path will take guests on a journey throughout the center to learn about how canids have helped to heal humans and how humans can be advocates for canids. The path starts with our domesticated dog path where we are guided by two German Shepherds along a path that ends with a memorial area. In the memorial area, we honor and pay respect to all those dogs that have passed that have brought love, life and security to humans lives. We will create paw print paver stones for dogs we failed who lost their lives in shelters and for guests to create a stone to honor their dog. We will then visit our other canids and learn about each of them while spending some time watching them be. There is so much to learn from each of them on how we can be better humans.

GOAL: $100,000

5) LIBRARY AND SCHOOL PROGRAMS: The JABCECC has a vital role in the community to provide education and support to our children. We would like to create a fund to support being able to visit libraries and schools to bring our animals to those that cannot come to us.

GOAL: $5000

6) ENRICHMENT ENCLOSURE: The animals in our care deserve to live a life of joy and freedom. We need to create enrichment enclosures that allow them to truly thrive. These enclosures are large and have built in security measure to ensure they can run and play while still safe from outside predators or escape.

GOAL: $15,000

7) PREDATOR DETERRANCE: Our animals need to feel safe within their homes at the center. We need to ensure our perimeter fencing and our property is safe from both predators, escape, and humans. Please help us be able to fence the entire property, add additional security devices, taller enclosures, snake fencing, and hot wires.

GOAL: $35,000

8) Military Day: We know how important our military is to our freedom. We focus so much on providing freedom and support to canids, so we need to also include those humans that give us the freedom to do what we love. The center wants to honor military families by have a charity day once a month, where families can come out and spend a day with the animals. We know these animals can help heal and provide comfort and these families need to be supported!!

GOAL: $3000

9) Memory Paw Prints: We may owe our own survival to dogs and yet, I don’t think we have lived up to our end of this bargain. We kill almost a million dogs each year in shelters where our best friends are abandoned and killed. THEY DESERVE BETTER!!! We want to honor those that e let down, those that died in shelters because humans failed them. Every month, we will create memory paw prints for shelter dogs that never made it out, so we NEVER FORGET THEM!! These memory paw prints will be placed in our Memory Garden in our Healing Path, so all of our guests can honor them as well!!

GOAL: $5000
